    Getting started

    How do I open LinkPatrol?

Click the LinkPatrol icon in the toolbar (pin it from the puzzle-piece menu first), or press Alt+Shift+L. The results open in Chrome's side panel.

Why does it ask for access to all websites?

Checking a link means requesting its URL, and links can point to any site. Chrome asks the first time you click Check links. If you say no, Extract still works; checking needs the permission.

It says the page can’t be checked

Chrome doesn’t let extensions read its own pages (chrome://, the Chrome Web Store, other extensions). Open a normal http or https page and try again.

    Keyboard shortcuts

    ⌘/Ctrl+Enter check links · X extract · E export CSV · R re-check failed · / filter · H outlines on or off · Esc close a sheet.

    Reading the results

Broken, Redirect, Restricted, Timeout, Skipped: what do they mean?

Broken: an error such as 404, 410 or 500, a domain that no longer resolves, or a #anchor with no target. Redirect: works, but takes one or more hops. Restricted: 401, 403, 429 or LinkedIn’s 999, usually a login wall or bot block. Timeout: no reply within your timeout. Skipped: mailto:, tel:, javascript: and hosts on your ignore list.

A link is marked broken but opens fine for me

Some sites block automated requests or answer differently without cookies. LinkPatrol already retries with a normal GET when a HEAD fails. Click the row and Open to check it yourself, then add the host to the ignore list in Settings if it keeps happening. If you think it’s our mistake, email us the URL.

    Lots of timeouts

Raise the timeout per link in Settings (5 to 30 seconds), or lower parallel requests. LinkPatrol never sends more than 2 requests at a time to any one site.

How do I find a link on the page?

Click its row. The page scrolls to the link and it is outlined by status. Toggle outlines with H.

    Free, Pro and exports

What counts as a page check?

A check that finishes. Free includes 10 a day, reset at local midnight. Extracting links, re-checking failed links and stopping a check early don't count.

My CSV stops at 100 links

Free exports and copies up to 100 links. Pro exports every link.

    How do I activate Pro?

Open the side panel, click Enter key at the bottom, paste the licence key from your Freemius receipt and press Activate.

Cancel, find my key, or move to another browser

See the Manage plan page. It covers the Freemius customer portal, cancelling, and moving a key between browsers.

Billing and licences: Manage plan. Data handling: Privacy policy.
