    Privacy Policy

    Last Updated: August 9, 2026

    Introduction

TrickleType ("we", "our", or "us") is built to keep your writing to yourself. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not send, and names every third party involved.

    Information We Collect

We collect no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking of your activity.

    • Your text content NEVER leaves your device. It is not uploaded, logged or transmitted anywhere, ever.
    • We do not use any third-party tracking scripts (like Google Analytics or Mixpanel).
    • The only data we ever receive is an optional uninstall survey, described below.

    Local Execution

All text processing, formatting, and pacing happens locally in your Chrome browser.

    • The extension directly manipulates the DOM of your active Google Doc tab.
    • No servers are involved in the typing process. Period.

    Uninstall Survey

If you remove TrickleType, Chrome opens a short optional feedback page on tailsgate.com. It is the only way we learn why people leave a free tool, and answering is entirely voluntary — closing the tab sends no answer.

    • What is sent when the page opens: the extension version you had, and a random identifier generated on your device at install. That identifier is not linked to you, your Google account or your documents.
    • What is sent if you answer: the reason you tap, plus anything you choose to type in the optional comment box.
    • Where it goes: Cloudflare Workers and Cloudflare KV storage, which host and store the responses on our behalf. Cloudflare is our only data processor.
    • Your IP address is not stored. It is hashed and truncated so duplicate submissions can be spotted, and the original address is never retained.
    • Your document text is never part of this. Only the survey answer is sent.

    Third-Party Content

The welcome page shown when you install TrickleType offers a short tutorial video.

    • The video is hosted on YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) and embedded through a page on tailsgate.com. Nothing is requested from YouTube or Google unless you press play — until then, no connection is made.
    • If you press play, YouTube receives the request and its own privacy policy applies.
    • The welcome page also links to buymemomo.com, a voluntary tip page. It only opens if you click it, and we handle no payment information.

    Permissions Explained

Our extension requires minimal permissions to function safely:

    • activeTab & sidePanel: Required to display the user interface alongside your work.
    • docs.google.com: Required to allow the extension to inject simulated keystrokes into the document editor.
    • scripting: Used only to load the typing script into a Google Doc tab that was already open before the extension was installed or updated.
    • storage: Used solely to save your active session state locally (so if you close the panel, it remembers where it was), plus the random identifier used by the uninstall survey.

    Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we ever change how TrickleType works (e.g., adding cloud features), we will prominently announce it and update this page. However, our core philosophy is local-first.
