1. Introduction

Tailsgate Studios ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This policy describes how data is handled when you use the Claude Usage Meter Chrome Extension (the "Extension"). The Extension reads usage data from your existing Claude.ai session — it does not create accounts, store credentials, or transmit your conversations anywhere.

2. Data Collection and Usage

No Chat Data Uploaded

When you export a chat, the Markdown or JSON file is generated locally and saved directly to your device. We never receive or store your conversation content.

No Tracking or Telemetry

We collect no analytics, crash reports, or usage telemetry. How you use Claude and how many messages you send remain entirely your business.

Local Session Reading

Usage metrics are read directly from Claude.ai's internal API using your active browser session. Your Claude credentials are never accessed or stored by the Extension.

No Personal Information

We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, or any personally identifiable information. Your organization ID is read transiently to query the usage API and is never persisted externally.

3. Required Permissions

storage:
Stores your usage configuration, alert thresholds, and cached usage metrics locally on your device. Nothing is synced to external servers.
alarms:
Runs background tasks for periodic license revalidation and usage polling when the Claude.ai tab is not in focus.
cookies:
Reads the lastActiveOrg cookie to retrieve your organization ID for querying the Claude usage API. This value is used only for that request and is not stored by the Extension.
host_permissions (claude.ai):
Required to inject the usage gauge into the Claude interface, read the usage API, and intercept the SSE completion stream for real-time updates. Access is scoped exclusively to claude.ai.

4. Third-Party Services

The Extension reads data from Anthropic's claude.ai interface. Your use of Claude is governed by Anthropic's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Tailsgate Studios is not affiliated with Anthropic. We do not control, and are not responsible for, any data Anthropic collects through their platform.

5. Pro License

Pro license purchases are processed by our payment provider. We receive only what is necessary to validate your license key. We do not store payment card details.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if the Extension's functionality changes. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
